One of the difficulties faced was lack of suitable land for farming to provide a sustainable living for the returned soldiers and their families. Yet some soldier settlers succeeded in farming… Some of the letters to the newspaper editors are scathing of the treatment towards soldier settlers… Other letters to the editor help give insight into the frustration faced by the soldier settlers when dealing with Government departments.
