Below is information about each of the events the Amiens (Qld) History Association and members of the soldiers' settlement and wider community are currently undertaking. 

100th Anniversary Centenary Festival

An event from 2018 - 2020 that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the return of the soldiers from WWI. 

The commemoration event will take place over an 18 month period, from Nov 2018 to July 2020. This event will commence with the 100th anniversary of Armistice day, it will include the 100th anniversary of the Amiens State School and culminate with the 100th anniversary of Prince Edward on the Royal Train opening the Amiens-Cottonvale rail line.

Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Amiens State School

To take place on 28/29 March 2020.

Amiens-Cottonvale branch rail line 100th anniversary

Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Amiens-Cottonvale branch rail line

To take place around the 20th July 2020.

Armistice Day 2018 - Launch of Amiens Legacy Centre

Launch of the Amiens Legacy Centre and commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

An event that will took place on 11th November, 2018 launching the Amiens Legacy Centre and commemorating the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

Painting donation

Donation of an original oil painting by Jan Mau

​Earlier in 2017 AHA was donated a painting by local artist Jan Mau. The painting depicts a stunning transition between the ghostly military figures and the modern day family walking through the forest.
